Superconductor Quantum Interference Device

The superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) is a precision instrument that uses SQUID technology to combine electronics, mechanics, low temperatures, vacuum, and other techniques to measure magnetization. SQUID is currently the most sensitive magnetic induction device discovered, making it ideal for sensing small magnetization. Its application range is mainly in the measurement of the magnetization of chemical and physical materials.

Equipment Description

This instrument is the product of American QUANTUM DESIGN company, the whole instrument is mainly made of

(1)  Superconducting magnet

(2)  Temperature controller

(3)  SQUID sensing system

(4)  Sample movement, rotation system

(5)  Gas control system

(6)  Computer automatic controller

(7)  Dewar flasks

Its main purpose is to measure the magnetic susceptibility.

  • Appendix
    • Zero field calibrator: the main purpose is to calibrate the magnetic field of the SQUID before measuring the low magnetic field to zero

Preparation of specimens

  • The sample dimension should be 2.5 mm x 2.5 mm. Liquid samples are not accepted for measurement.
  • Please describe the nature of the sample in detail, such as whether it is toxic or not, and whether it is easily oxidized by radioactivity, so that the delivered sample can be properly processed immediately. In addition, please also explain the possible characteristics of the sample, so that the user can be informed immediately if there is any discrepancy in the measurement.
  • Please clearly label the sample name and ingredients, and explain the measurement items, temperature, and magnetic field.
