Introduction

The Center for High-Value Instrumentation at National Sun Yat-sen University is one of Taiwan's most important research institutions. It aims to provide advanced scientific instrumentation, technology, and research support services to assist academia, industry, and government agencies with various research and analytical tasks. To improve the research environment in Taiwan, the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) has provided funding for the purchase and operation of equipment and has been providing valuable analytical equipment and instrument specialists to perform sample testing for academic research institutions and manufacturers in Taiwan, as well as consulting services to research institutions to assist various private research institutions with quality control and research development difficulties.

To maximize the effectiveness of each instrument, the Center provides complete research services, including sample preparation, instrument operation, data analysis and interpretation, research consultation, and education. The Center has a team of professional technicians, including experts in instrument operation, data analysis, and sample preparation. They not only guide instrument operation and research consultation but also assist users in all phases of research, including sample preparation, experimental manipulation, data analysis, and result evaluation.

In addition to providing services to researchers, faculty, students, and research institutions, the Center also actively explores external cooperation through industry-university cooperation or commissioned services to help manufacturers or institutions solve research problems and improve product development and quality control. To provide better services, the Center's professional staff frequently cooperates and communicates with academic research institutions, industries, and government agencies to discuss various research problems and improve the national technology level.

Currently, the Center provides 26 high-value instruments to serve researchers, including various types of electron microscopy, spectroscopy-related instruments, mass spectrometers, nuclear magnetic resonance, etc., which can be applied to research in various fields such as material science, biotechnology, chemistry, physics, and environmental science. According to the characteristics of each instrument, they are placed in relevant departments, institutes, and centers, with instructors and technicians for technical advice and instrument operation. All institutions and researchers are welcome to book the use of the Center following the relevant guidelines of the National Science and Technology Council and the laboratories.
